Bodycam First Time Playing: What to Expect video

Almost everyone reacts to Bodycam the same way on their first match: the visuals and the sound are shockingly real. But what decides whether you open the game again a week later is usually not the graphics. It is whether there are enough maps. whether the pace suits you, and whether the price feels fair.

StoneMountain Plays uploaded a 24-minute first-time session, “I PLAYED BODYCAM For The FIRST TIME…”, on September 14, 2026. It comes from episode 2944 of his stream rather than a produced review, so it reads like an ordinary player’s first evening. Below is what he actually played. how the comment section reacted, and what reviewers and Steam players say. So you can judge whether the game is for you.

What the session actually covers

He opens by defining the game: it is not a normal first-person shooter but an FPS seen “from the body camera”, so clearing rooms and moving around happen through a lens. His own words: it looks insane as a video.

In the matches he runs into the Trenches map, weapon canting for close quarters, throwing knives, one-shot headshots with a sniper, Gun Game (a new weapon after each kill), and magnified optics. He also fires off two complaints: too few maps, and no FOV slider.

One detail captures the mood at the time. Because his chat kept spamming that playing the game would get his account or PC hacked, he only played a bot lobby and said he might uninstall afterwards. That fear was not invented. In its September 8, 2026 patch notes, the studio confirmed that a player acting as session host could remote-crash other players’ games by spawning large numbers of entities. It fixed the bug and banned the accounts involved. The same post also states there was no evidence the exploit was used to access personal data, so the “your account will be hacked” version has no official backing. Media outlets including GRYOnline.pl and rutab.net later relayed a studio statement that no remote code execution evidence was found. But that is second-hand reporting, not an official statement.

What grabs a new player first, and what pushes them away

Reading the transcript, the comments, and his own complaints together. the first-session curve is always the same: the camera and the sound hit first. then you start judging the controls and the content.

  • The view is the hook. He stresses the body-camera framing, which is why he calls it insane as a video. Some commenters found the round frame and blurred faces off-putting; others shot back that the game is chasing photorealism, not Call of Duty.
  • Gun audio is the consensus strength. A top Steam review puts it plainly: firing does not feel like clicking a mouse, it feels like setting off a cannon in a concrete hallway. That is a player impression, not lab data, but it points the same way.
  • You have to relearn aiming. The camera never sits still, so veteran shooter players need a session or two to adjust. He says the mouse input behaves as expected once you trust your aim.
  • Content volume is the weakness. He repeats that the game needs more maps, which lines up exactly with what reviewers say.

Why the scores split

The disagreement is not complicated. It comes down to three things.

Content versus price. In its September 11, 2026 PC impressions, Gaming Age gave the technical side 10/10, content 6/10, and an overall 8/10, adding that roughly $30 feels high for what is there. That is a reviewer’s opinion, not an official figure, but it explains why most Steam negatives do not attack the graphics. They say there is no reason to keep playing past a few dozen hours.

The overall picture is positive. As of September 15, 2026, Steam shows 62,982 reviews: 50,365 positive and 12,617 negative. about 79.97%, rated “Mostly Positive”. Those numbers move with each patch. But they show the reception is not one-sided.

Security and stability. After the studio confirmed the crash exploit on September 8, 2026, the community criticised it for communicating too slowly, and the studio admitted it should have told players an investigation was underway.

Events like this shape first impressions, which is exactly why the creator above stuck to bot lobbies.

Player-count worries. A Reddit thread on r/BodycamGame asks whether to refund or give the game more time, with the poster worried the loop gets repetitive once the novelty fades and the player base shrinks.

The most common replies: keep it and watch Early Access, or move to the 2v2 Wingman mode, which holds tension better.

A first-session order that works

These steps map directly onto the problems above and save more time than watching highlight reels.

  1. Start in a bot or private lobby. Jumping straight into live matches with a moving camera and loud gunfire is disorienting; learn the feel under no pressure first.
  2. Spend three full matches with one primary. Note recoil, how exposed you are while reloading, and how loud the gun is. Those three things shape your first week more than any tier list.
  3. Learn one route on Trenches before you fight on it. The map has underground, trench, and surface levels, so find a safe entry and a retreat path before changing weapons.
  4. Recheck your visuals and input settings. New animation, lighting, and audio change how you read distance and direction, so older settings may no longer fit. See Best Settings.
  5. Decide whether you will keep playing before you decide whether to spend more. Price, platform, and version status are on the release and platforms page.

A note on what is not claimed

System details mentioned in the video, such as unlimited ammunition, roughly 400 attachments, or whether a specific gun is strong, are the creator’s in-game observations. We treat them as a record of what happened, not as confirmed mechanics. On the security incident we only state what the studio confirmed. View, like, comment, and Steam review counts are a September 15, 2026 snapshot. For weapon comparisons. see Best Weapons and Weapons and Loadouts.
